THREE students from Sansum Martial Arts have picked up medals at the WKA International Kickboxing Open.

Alistair Elliott, from UHI Moray, and Eilidh Regan and Poppy Douglas, both from Lossiemouth High School, travelled to Motherwell to compete in the martial arts event on Sunday, February 4.

Alistair Elliot picked up a gold medal in kickboxing for the 15-17 years category (-70kg), while Poppy Douglas won gold in point fighting for the 12-14 year group (65kg+).

There was double joy for Eilidh Regan, who picked up a silver medal in point fighting (-65kg) for 15-17 years and a bronze medal in point fighting (-70kg).

Kate Sansum, co-owner of Sansum Martial Arts, said: "At a time when our local children are glued to their technology and picking up bad habits from social media, it is amazing to see the Sansum teenagers achieving in sport through dedication and commitment."
