WINDSWEPT and delighted, Sarah Liebnitz was over the moon to be crowned ‘The Northern Scot’ 10k Series ladies champion.

The former Lossiemouth runner swept to victory after crossing the line first in the final race of the series, the Benromach 10k.

That completed back to back wins following her success at the Moray Roadrunners 10k, and fourth in the opener at Nairn.

Her series winner ended the dominance of Inverness Harriers team-mate Melissa Whyte who has won the title three years running.

"Melissa has dominated the series but unfortunately she is out injured at the moment, although hopefully not for too long. It is really competitive among the other runners.

"I am really chuffed to win the series and I never expected this," she added.

Despite the testing conditions, Liebnitz was gobsmacked when she realised she had set a personal best time for the run.
