The club sent a small team of seven members to the Bells Centre in Perth for the Scottish Floor and Vault Championships.

There was glory for Mya Morrison, who won gold on the floor and silver on the vault to land the overall title of Scottish champion in the 11 years beginners' category.

And Rhea Henderson, competing in the 9 years beginners' event, secured a floor gold and vault bronze to claim the overall Scottish title. Team-mate Matilda Gee won bronze on the floor.

Forres Gymnastics Club's triumphs didn't end there, as Charlotte Morrison won the gold medal in the 10 years beginners' vault.

In the 11 years beginners' team competition, Mya and Matilda teamed up with Louisa Walters for a bronze medal.

And completing the Forres medal haul in Perth, Iris Whitton landed a vault gold medal in the 14+ advanced section and took overall silver.

"We had a very enjoyable and successful day," said head coach Patsy Fraser-Mackenzie.

"We are a very small club and have had a really successful year - it's wonderful to see good results coming forward, which are the result of the girls' and coaches' hard work in training."

The coach then led her gymnasts to the Garioch Glitterball in Inverurie, where they gained more medal success.

Iris Whitton landed the title of Glitterball Princess for her age group after securing the gold medal in the advanced section, after winning both the floor and vault competitions.

Another Forres 'Princess' was new Scottish champ Mya Morrison in the 11 years beginners' winning gold on the floor to take the overall title.

Team-mate Matilda Gee won silver on the floor and was fourth overall, while the pair joined forced with Louisa Walters to earn a team silver medal.

In intermediate 12-13 years, Lucy Stephenson claimed a vault silver and was fifth overall.

Charlotte Morrison won a vault gold and overall silver in the beginners' 10 years competition, with Isla Weston taking the vault bronze.

"The club is now closing for three weeks for a rest period and will then resume light training over the summer, in preparation for the competition season beginning again in September," Patsy added.

Forres Gymnastics Club will hold trials in late August for anyone keen to join the club. Email forresgymnastics@hotmail.co.uk for more details.
