KEVIN Small is back at Buckie Thistle.
The former skipper has been confirmed as Gary Hake's new no.2.
Small had also been offered a player-coach role by Cove Rangers but opted instead for a player-assistant role at Victoria Park.
He was Jags’ skipper as they lifted back to back Highland League titles, before quitting to join Cove last season.
"I guess because I had been at Buckie so long and still know most of the boys, that made it easier to come back," said Small.
Small (38) spent eight seasons with the Jags before moving to Cove last season.
Gary Hake was delighted to bring Small back to Victoria Park.
"He was the captain who lifted the trophy twice, a good leader on the park and a good guy to have in the dressing room. He knows the club and the players.
"When I thought about my assistant Kevin’s name came to mind because I knew he was interested in the coaching side of things."
Hake sees Small being very much in contention for a place in the team.
"Because of his kidney problems Kevin couldn’t drink and had to watch his diet. He doesn’t carry much weight and has looked after himself."
Hake confirmed that the deal to bring Nikki Smith from Lossiemouth could be concluded soon.
"Nikki has shown his desire to come to the club. We are still trying to agree a deal with Lossie," he said.
