ELGIN City's upwards trend under manager Allan Hale continued with an impressive away victory in Edinburgh against Spartans on Saturday.

The Black and Whites' form at Borough Briggs under Hale has been great – with four wins from six matches – and this was the first away success for the new manager at the fifth attempt.

Mark Gallagher got his first City goal in the 63rd minute for 1-0, but City were quickly pegged back when Blair Henderson – who got a hat-trick in a 4-0 Spartans win in Elgin at the start of Hale's tenure – equalised.

Mitch Taylor was to be the hero for the visitors, though, as he bagged his very first goal for the club in the 94th minute to secure a precious three points.

The win is City's first on the road since February 23, 2023, and ends a winless run of 21 away matches.

Elgin are back at Borough Briggs on Saturday to take on runaway league leaders Stenhousemuir.
