Striker Craig Gunn kept up his perfect scoring record at Forthbank by netting a first half penalty for Elgin, his seventh goal in five visits there.

That gave the Black and Whites the lead at the interval but Stirling came out for the second half in determined fashion and turned the contest around.

City boss Jim Weir recalled St Johnstone loan keeper Mark Hurst and handed a first start to Jordan Halsman at the expense of Daniel Moore.

Marc McKenzie was also preferred in the starting line up to Connor McLaren in the third change from the team which lost 2-1 to Raith in the Scottish Cup.

Gunn’s spot kick, his 13 goal of the season and 99 league goal of his Elgin career, broke the deadlock on 21 minutes.

Mark Lamont levelled eight minutes after the break and two late strikes by Steven Doris and Darren Smith saw the home side to victory.

In the Highland League there were no Moray winners, with Buckie Thistle denied a win by a last gasp Fraserburgh equaliser in a 2-2 draw.

Dennis Wyness gave Jags a first half lead before Willie West levelled.

Home side Buckie then had striker Kai Ross sent off but still managed to take the lead through skipper Lewis Mackinnon late in the match.

But Ryan Cowie popped up at the death to rescue a draw for the Buchan visitors.

Rothes took yet another thumping, 7-1 at home to Clach with debut striker Ricky Henderson getting the Speysiders’ solitary goal on his debut, having made the switch from Keith.

Keith themselves lost heavily at home, 6-2 against champions Brora Rangers.

Matty McDonald and Sam Pugh scored for the Maroons in the second half after they were already well in arrears.

And Lossiemouth went down 5-1 to Nairn County, with Ross Archibald’s early equaliser soon buried by a County onslaught, during which Conor Gethins scored a hat-trick.

Forres Mechanics’ home game against Turriff United was postponed for the second weekend running.

Cove Rangers booked a fourth round Scottish Cup visit to Motherwell when they beat Formartine United 4-1 at Inverurie in a replay.

Wick’s tie against Linlithgow Rose and Inverurie Locos and Huntly’s replay trips to Annan and Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale respectively fell victim to the weather.
