STRIKER Liam Harvey's loan spell with Elgin City has ended with the youngster joining Buckie Thistle on a permanent deal.

The teenager – who is from Elgin – spent the first half of the season on loan at Borough Briggs from Aberdeen, scoring three goals in 26 appearances.

However, after being released by the Dons, his loan spell with City ended and he has moved to Highland League title-chasers Buckie.

Manager Graeme Stewart told the Jags' Facebook page: "We are delighted to sign a player of Liam's quality, he's a very talented player and will add a lot to our squad.

"We have fought off clubs at a higher level to get his signature and are thrilled to get him on board.

"We have been looking for a striker since Kyle (Macleod) left and have been watching Liam for over a year.

"He lives in Elgin so is fairly local and he will bring strong competition to our forward line. He has scored goals throughout his short career."

Harvey grabbed the winning goal for Elgin in their 2-1 success over Stranraer, calmly scoring from the penalty spot in the last minute.

The former Elgin High School pupil also bagged a fantastic 25-yard goal in a 2-0 win over Dumbarton in League Two in August.

Elgin City manager Allan Hale said: "Liam was someone we wanted to keep permanently but he feels he will have better opportunities to play in his natural position at Buckie than he felt he would have with us.

"He's a local lad and talented young player. We thank him for his efforts and wish him well."

Harvey could make his Jags debut tomorrow when his new side travel to Christie Park to take on Huntly.
