The Borough Briggs side led 2-0 at half-time but were pegged back with two goals in the space of six minutes early in the second half.

And they had to play out the final 11 minutes with 10 men after defender Darryl McHardy was sent off for a second yellow card.

Russell Dingwall fired the visitors into the lead in the 18th minute.

And when striker Kane Hester added a second two minutes into added time, Elgin looked to be heading for a boost and their first win of the season.

However, Robert Thomson pulled one back on 55 minutes and by the 61st minute Stirling were level when Aaron Dunsmore fired in a second.

McHardy walked in the 79th minute but Elgin held on for a point.

After opening the season with a 3-1 defeat at home to East Fife, Gavin Price's side were looking for a positive result from their first road trip of the campaign.

City's two new loan signings, 18-year-old winger Tom Findlay and 19-year-old left back Greig Young, signed on Friday and Saturday respectively from Championship pair Dundee and Raith Rovers, both came straight into the starting line up.

Young played the full 90 minutes and Findlay was replaced with 10 minutes to go by Owen Cairns.

Goalkeeper Tom McHale also returned to the starting XI with Daniel Hoban on the bench after opening the season against East Fife.
