THE Moray Titans debut season in Scotland Rugby League ended on an award-winning note.
Two figures from the Elgin-based club have been honoured in the governing body’s end of season awards.
At the Scotland Rugby League awards dinner in Glasgow last weekend, Phil Abbott was named division one player of the year.
And club treasurer Jamie MacMillan was named volunteer of the year.
Club coach and founder Adam Harrison said: "Phil Abbott has been an inspiration and rock to the Moray Titans in their first season, fulfilling the role of both captain and coach.
"His enthusiasm, passion and professionalism has helped support new and existing rugby league players within the club, both on and off the field, resulting in him taking quite a few hard knocks you would normally expect a big forward to be taking."
He said Jamie MacMillan was instrumental in forming the club and his work behind the scenes, in preparing reports, letters and grant applications, was crucial to the running and future sustainability of the club.
