AFTER seven consecutive defeats, Tomintoul picked up their first points of the Moray welfare football season.
'Toul won 4-2 at Elgin Golden Oldies, who themselves have yet to get off the mark in their debut league campaign.
Two goals by former Highland League favourites Neil Whyte and Stuart Cameron weren't enough to get the Elgin veterans a share of the spoils.
A flying Tomintoul start earned a first minute goal with Craig Durno firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
It got worse for EGOs when a poor kick out by their goalkeeper was looped back over him into the net on ten minutes.
A tap-in on 21 minutes and a 10-yard strike four minutes sent Tomintoul well on the way to their maiden victory, with Durno getting his second as well as efforts by Cameron Duncan and Brandon Tinley.
Trailing 4-0 at the break, Elgin Golden Oldies regrouped and made a real game of it in the second half.
Whyte was put through one-on-one with the keeper to reduce the deficit on 50 minutes.
EGOs should have got another one back on the hour when they were awarded a penalty, but Toul keeper Ryan Dyer pulled off a fine save and the rebound was sliced wide.
Cameron rounded Dyer to cut Tomintoul's lead to two goals with ten minutes to go, and despite more home pressure the veterans couldn't further reduce the deficit.
