Top Scottish golfers head to Hardhillock

THE cream of Scotland's domestic golfing talent will tee up at Elgin Golf Club on Friday.

A field of 30 professionals will compete for the S&D Harper/Calor Gas Pro-Am.

The event carries a total prize fund of £6,500 and will see each of the professionals play with three amateur partners.

Home club professional Kevin Stables, a three times winner of the event, will be among those competiting for the trophy.

Others include Thailand-based Derek McKenzie, Lossiemouth's Ross McConnachie, Colin Gillies, the all-time career high money winner on the domestic circuit, last year's Scottish order of merit winner Greig Hutcheon, former European Tour rookie of the year Scott Henderson and Chris Kelly, who played on the main European Tour last season.

Main sponsor Stuart Harper said: "It is a great event to be involved in and my dad first sponsored it 23 years ago."

Bob Cunningham, Elgin Club Captain, said: "We have again attracted a strong field of competitors from across Scotland, made possible by the significant and continued sponsorship from S&D Harper and Calos Gas."

The action gets underway from 9am on Friday with tee-times every 10 minutes until the last group goes out at 1.50pm.
