TWO key Forres Mechanics men are battling to be fit for their club’s cup final bid tonight (Wednesday).
Mechanics host Nairn County in a derby match in the semi-finals of the Menzies Distribution North of Scotland Cup.
The Moray side will give a late fitness test to top scorer Lee Fraser, who injured his knee while scoring the winning goal in a league game against Deveronvale on Saturday.
Cans’ midfielder Stuart Soane is also struggling with a sickness bug but will be given every chance to prove his fitness.
Forres manager Charlie Rowley said: "It’s still not 100% if Lee will make it but we will give him until the last minute if need be.
"He is a doubt but there was an improvement on Monday and again yesterday."
"Soaney is feeling under the weather with a bug as well, so we’re hoping he can make it."
Mechanics will have skipper Graeme Grant available despite a red card on Saturday, as his suspension will carry forward to Saturday’s league clash at Lossiemouth.
Nairn will be gunning for revenge after being knocked out of last year’s competition by Forres in the first round after a penalty shoot-out.
The winners of tonight’s tie will meet Wick Academy in the final on Saturday, October 10, after the Caithness side’s 2-1 success over a young Caley Thistle team in the other semi on Tuesday night.
