Elgin City manager Allan Hale's efforts to shape his own squad for the second half of the SPFL season have drawn up a big list of targets.

And it's understood that the new boss could make his first permanent signing for the club this week.

Hale and his assistant Stefan Laird will also weigh up their loan deals at the club, while some fringe players could leave Borough Briggs.

The Black and Whites' three Ross County loan deals all expire after Saturday's match at home to Stranraer, but Hale has moved quickly to extend 17-year-old stopper Connall Ewan's deal until the end of the campaign.

Ryan MacLeman and Matty Wright were also been farmed out by the Dingwall side, and City must now decide what to do with both players.

Aberdeen teenagers Liam Harvey and Blair McKenzie are on loan at Elgin for the full season.

Hale is close to signing current City striker Robert Jones on an extended deal until the end of the term.

An unnamed transfer target is believed to have agreed to a January switch to Elgin from another club.

The manager said on his plans: "There’s no doubt that there will be ins and outs in the transfer window.

"Potentially there could be up to six coming in if we get further down the line with most of these conversations.

"In order to bring players in, we will need to move players out and that is the nature of the budget we are operating with.

"We won’t move any players out until we’ve got players in but we are working extremely hard, long days and a lot of phone calls are being made at the moment to see what we can to improve the squad.

"I don’t think it’s any secret that we want to bring a bit more speed into the team, a bit more natural width but there’s so many moving things that we are working on. We will just need to see where that goes."

City loaned young midfielder Aidan Cruickshank to Forres Mechanics on a short-term deal which could be extended if all parties agree.
