ELGIN City's damaging defeat at Annan came down to clinical home finishing and poor defending from the far-travelled visitors.

City lost 4-1 in a result that leaves their play-offs hopes all but gone.

But Elgin City TV highlights above show the Moray side missing a succession of opportunities and being punished at the other end.

A Jordan Allan mistake was capitalised on by Scott Roberts for the only goal of the first half for Annan.

Shoddy marking at a corner gifted Aiden Smith a second shortly after half time.

Shane Sutherland's third goal in five games sparked an Elgin revival, and they missed some good chances to level before the home team counter attacked for two late goals.

Strikes by substitute Conor O'Keefe and Blair Henderson killed off City's challenge.

The Black and Whites have three games left to try and salvage their season, but they will need fourth-placed Stenhousemuir to perform a major collapse.

The Warriors are a point ahead of City and have two games in hand, putting them firmly in the driving seat for the play-offs.

Elgin host Edinburgh City on Saturday then Peterhead the week after, before finishing with a trip to current leaders Montrose.
