THE Buckie fans certainly went 'steaming in' at Celtic Park on their special day.

You could say it was a case of Super Buckie fans went ballistic, the weather was atrocious.

When Inverness Caley Thistle knocked Celtic out of the cup in February 2000, in their own backyard, The Sun sports headline was 'Super Caley go ballistic Celtic are atrocious' to describe the 3-1 win in Glasgow.

Buckie Thistle couldn't conjure up a result to match ICT's victory or the headline, but they made Celtic work for the 5-0 win.

Even Storm Isha couldn't put a dampener on the occasion. Although torrential rain all day and storm force winds made the journey to and from Glasgow challenging to say the least for the 2,500 Jags' fans.

There was a mass exodus from Buckie on Sunday for the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup 4th round match.

It's a cliché, but it was a real David v Goliath match up, with the Highland League side – albeit one of the best teams in the 5th tier of Scottish football – up against the Scottish Premiership champions and defending Scottish Cup holders.

Despite the scoreline, their team did the fans and the Highland League proud with a gutsy and hard-working performance in front of more than 40,000 fans.

It was great to see the joy on the faces of the Green and White Army (the Buckie version) as their team (playing in yellow, as Celtic clearly had first dibs on the green and white hopes) graced the Celtic Park pitch.

Fans of all ages were there, from tiny babies and toddlers with their scarves, hats and flags, youth players from the club, former players and managers, and stalwart fans who have followed the club through thick and thin.

This was their day, one they will remember for the rest of their lives.

The dream of the greatest Scottish Cup upset in history was alive for 25 minutes as the Jags managed to repel the Celtic threat on a huge, rain-sodden pitch.

However, once Celtic got their noses in front, they showed their class.

Despite tired legs and minds, every Buckie player who got on the pitch can be proud of their performance.

At the end, the fans shouted, cheered and clapped their heroes as they came over to the corner of the stadium where they were located to celebrate with them.

What a great day for the club and the fans.
