THE end of Elgin City's promotion dream for another year was a bitter pill to swallow for manager Gavin Price.

Elgin conceded an 88th minute equaliser to hosts Edinburgh City on Tuesday night, with the capital side progressing to the League 1 play-off final against Dumbarton 3-2 on aggregate.

In a post-match interview with Elgin City TV, Price admitted he was "gutted" by the loss in a game where he felt his team were on course to win through.

Twice centre back Darryl McHardy headed them in front on the night, and the tie was heading for extra time when Josh Campbell's spectacular effort found the net just before full time.

"It's tough but I'd like to take the opportunity to congratulate the players oI'm so proud of themn what they have given the club," he said.

"I'm so proud of them. It was a fantastic performance.

"I'm gutted. We deserved more.

"I'm really devastated for everybody connected with Elgin City that we couldn't manage to go that step further."
