There have been many ups and downs in that century at their home, and this was a weekend enjoyed by the fans.

The Black and Whites – wearing a new retro first team kit as a nod to their past – defeated League 1 neighbours Peterhead 2-0 in the final at Borough Briggs on Sunday.

First half goals from Fin Allen and Jevan Anderson secured the win against the Blue Toon.

Elgin had beaten Highland League champions Fraserburgh 2-0 on Saturday, while Peterhead had drawn 1-1 with Inverurie Locos before winning a penalty shootout.

Elgin manager Gavin Price was delighted with his players' efforts over the two days, as their preparations continue for the start of a new season in less than two weeks.

Price said: "It's been an excellent exercise and the players have got a lot of minutes over the two days. I have been really pleased with the fitness levels.

"We won't get carried away with what we have done, but we have now kept four clean sheets and scored a lot of goals.

Captain Matty Cooper said: "We've got to aim high. Last season the standard was not good enough. It is important we hit the ground running."
