Such is the tight nature of Scottish football's fourth tier, when City led 1-0 at the break through a Jake Dolzanski header they were sitting one place below the promotion play-off zone on the 'live' league table.

But two Jordan Allan goals in a three minute spell after the break sent the Black and Whites plunging down three spots in the rankings.

Elgin's 2-1 defeat sees them sitting third from bottom, just five points above their weekend conquerors who are building up some serious momentum.

Stranraer have the chance to dump Allan Hale's side even closer to the foot of the table if they defeat Dumbarton tonight, a result that would take them up to eighth and City down to ninth.

City were unbeaten against the league's top three in their previous three outings, winning at Spartans and drawing at Peterhead as well as battling out a 2-2 draw at home to Stenhousemuir.

Next up for Hale's men is a home clash against Bonnyrigg Rose. they will be without centre back Dolzanski who is suspended after being sent off near the end of the Clyde defeat.
