Gregor Ewan will take to the ice on Saturday for ParalympicsGB in what will be his third appearance at the games.

Christine Ewan, Gregor’s wife, has been in regular contact with the former Paralympic bronze medallist after he flew out to China last week.

She said: “He’s in good spirits and we’re all looking forward to seeing him in action.

“He’ll be part of the opening ceremony as well for the first time. We’re recording it so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for him."

Team GB's curling teams won gold and silver medals at last month's Winter Olympic Games. That proved to be Great Britain's only medal return of all the events they competed in.

The Paralympic team are hoping to emulate that success this month.

"It's a good omen," Christine said.

“The success of the Olympic curling teams last month is a bit of an inspiration for them. Certainly Gregor is looking to match their success and land gold. He’s got every chance.”

Christine will be travelling down to Norfolk so that the whole family can keep tabs on Gregor's progress together.

If they are to take home gold, Gregor and co will have to get through the extremely competitive round robin phase first.

However, ParalympicsGB will have one less match to contend with after the second ranked Russian team were expelled from the games following the invasion of Ukraine recently.

ParalympicsGB will begin their pursuit of curling gold with a match up against Norway on Saturday morning.
