A96 in Elgin fully reopened after “crash” involving semi-dressed man

THE A96 through Elgin has fully reopened after an incident which is believed to have involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Video seen by The Northern Scot showed a semi-dressed man running beside the A96, near the KFC roundabout, and then lying on the road.

The exact nature of the incident - and the man’s welfare - remain unclear at this stage.

Around half a dozen police vehicles - and several ambulances - were on the scene at around 8.30am. Police have been approached for comment.

Officers confirmed that the A96 is fully open in both directions after a closure that lasted more than four hours.

A social media post reads: “The A96 in Elgin which was closed due to an earlier crash has now fully re-opened.

“We thank the public for their patience while the road was closed. Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 0731 of May 10, 2024.”
