Fochabers massage therapist claims Best Massage title at Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards

A FOCHABERS massage therapist has claimed her third award for Best Massage at the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards (SHABA) last month.
Kerry McKay of Purity Health Beauty and Well Being said she was still in "disbelief" after claiming the award in a ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on November 28.
"It was just amazing," Kerry said.
"Obviously you hope that you've won something when you go down for the awards but when my name was read out it really did take me a few moments to compose myself and actually get up on stage.
"I couldn't quite believe that they read out my name."
Winning awards is becoming something of a regular occurrence for Kerry. November's success adds to her SHABA wins of 2016 and 2018 as well as her Best Complimentary Therapist title from last year's North Scotland Hair and Beauty Awards - Kerry's second successive regional win. That announcement was made at a virtual ceremony last year but Kerry was happy to receive her latest honour in person this time.
She said: "It's a huge affair. It should have taken place in September last year but with coronavirus it was postponed.
"It was a cracking event. We had dinner and entertainment halfway through.
"As you can imagine the hair and beauty industry partied like it was 2019. We'd not really been out for two years so it was ace."
Kerry, who has years of experience as a massage therapist working in five-star spas and cruise ships, reserved special praise for her clients who nominated her for the award.
She said: "You know the judges look through social media for reviews as part of the judging. Clients review us using our online booking system and then we put them online.
"Without the votes from them and the nice reviews I wouldn't have any of these awards so I'm really grateful."
