MORAY politicians, Stagecoach and Police Scotland say they are "committed" to working closely together to support the local community after the death of Elgin bus driver Keith Rollinson.
Moray Council leader Kathleen Robertson, MSP Richard Lochhead and MP Douglas Ross met with representatives of Stagecoach and Police Scotland on Friday (February 16).
Mr Rollinson died after an incident at Elgin bus station just over two weeks ago.
A 15-year-old male was charged with murder after being arrested in connection with the 58-year-old's death.
Friday's meeting was held to provide "reassurance" to the local community that there is a "strong focus" on ensuring the safety of the public, bus drivers and passengers.
Anti-social behaviour and how to counteract it was also discussed.
Council leader Kathleen Robertson said: "This was an important meeting and I am sure we have all found it extremely helpful.
"We’re committed to continuing to work closely together in the coming months to support the Moray community where we can.
"Mr Rollinson's family, friends, and colleagues are very much at the forefront of our thoughts right now."
Further meetings are planned but those who attended on Friday say underlying issues in Moray will require a "local and national response" to be fully addressed.
Moray MSP Richard Lochhead said: "The Moray community is shocked by the tragic incident that led to the loss of Mr Rollinson’s life."
He added: "Further meetings are planned but we will require a local and national response to some of the underlying issues.
“This initial meeting was an invaluable opportunity to hear from Stagecoach, who have lost a much valued colleague in the most horrific circumstances.
"I pay tribute to the men and women who’ve been back at work providing lifeline bus services to our communities, at a time when they’re mourning the loss of their colleague."
Moray MP Douglas Ross added: "We need to all work together to tackle issues associated with the events surrounding Mr Rollinson’s death.
"Anti-social behaviour is a serious issue affecting too many parts of Moray.
"We need to do something to make people feel safer in their communities and I will work with anyone and everyone to make that happen."
