MORE than 100 Moray Council owned homes are set to receive a range of measures which will reduce the risk of damp and mould.

Figures from 2022 showed that less than one per cent of council owned properties were reported for mould.
Figures from 2022 showed that less than one per cent of council owned properties were reported for mould.

The measures, which will include internal, external and cavity wall insulation, will make the homes more energy efficient with the work being carried out in addition to the council's wider stock improvement programme.

The council added that the measures will ensure the "continued safety" of tenants.

Damp monitoring devices have also been fitted in some homes.

Councillor Amber Dunbar, Moray Council's Housing and Community Safety Committee Chair, said: "The report given to us today shows we take our responsibility for preventing damp and mould in our tenant’s homes extremely seriously.

"We understand our future investment needs, have identified properties that could have damp and mould issues, and have a targeted work programme in place to reduce this likelihood.

“We use every opportunity to communicate with tenants about preventing and treating damp and mould.

"We would encourage them to report any concerns to us as soon as they can by phoning 0300 123 4566."

Figures from 2022 revealed that less than one per cent of council-owned homes were reported for mould but work continues to ensure cases are rare.

External wall insulation work has been carried out on properties in Buckie, Forres, Lossiemouth and Cullen.

The properties have also been treated with internal wall insulation works, condensation prevention products and heat recovery ventilation fans.
