The Boomtown Rats frontman lauded the festival, its organisers and praised the Elgin area.

In his exclusive interview to The Northern Scot, the singer also commented on a tour of Elgin he was given by a local taxi driver, who gave him a hilarious rendition of town's history.

Sir Bob said: "I would like to thank the taxi driver who took me into town for my tour of Elgin.

"As we passed the burned out Cathedral I asked him what happened and he said 'burned down'.

"I said 'yeah, I can see that! When did this happen?'

"He said '12th century'.

"I said 'oh wow, who burned it down?'

"He said 'Guy Fawkes'.

"I said 'Guy Fawkes? In the 12th century?'

"And he said 'aye, Guy Fawkes'.

"I said 'dude, you're 400 years out!'

"Then we passed the big pillar on the hill with the guy on the top (Duke of Gordon's Monument on Ladyhill) and I said 'who's that up there?'.

"He said 'I haven't a clue'.

"I said 'are you from here' and he said 'aye, born and bred'.

"But he hadn't a clue what was going on. So I'd like to thank that taxi driver for my tour of Elgin."
