Teenage pair charged with 13 acts of arson and vandalism including Elgin Cemetery fire and New Elgin caravan blaze

TWO youths have been charged in connection with 13 acts of arson and vandalism in Elgin in a six-week period.

The pair, aged 13 and 14, were previously charged in relation to five incidents, including a caravan fire at Thornhill Playing Fields.

After further enquiries, the duo have now been charged with an additional eight, including a wilful fire at the pavilion at Elgin Cemetery.

All 13 incidents happened between Friday, November 24, 2023 and Friday, January 5, 2024.

A joint report has been submitted the Procurator Fiscal and the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration.

"Please continue to report any anti-social issues to us. Police Scotland works with partner agencies to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour in our area, while also educating on the dangers and consequences.

“Anyone with concerns about criminality can speak to officers, call 101, or, in the case of emergency, dial 999.”
