Difficult conditions on the steep Macallan Brae had a knock-on effect on the A941 which left all traffic between Aberlour and Rothes at a standstill.

Police were in attendance at the junction between the A941 and the B9012 to direct small numbers of cars through and manage the impact of vehicles stuck on the hill.

Disruption on the road, which began to ease at around 9.15am, was not the only impact snow has had on the local area.

All schools in the Speyside ASG are closed today, while the Dufftown to Rhynie road was closed at 9.32am today.

Rothiemay Primary School is also closed, along with Keith Grammar School, while bus services to Forres Academy and Keith Primary have been impacted.

Milne's High School is closed to all pupils, apart from those sitting prelims.

The snow gates on the A939 at Cock Bridge are also closed.
