THE old bridge to the East Beach in Lossiemouth has been dismantled.
However, some parts of the 100-year-old structure maybe preserved for posterity.
With the opening of a new £1.8 million footbridge across to the beach on May 31, locals and visitors have been flocking to the beach in the last couple of weeks.
Many people have been asking what was happening to the wooden bridge was closed in 2019 on safety grounds.
Beaver Bridges, the company which built the new crossing, returned to the town this week to dismantle the structure.
And Lossiemouth Community Development Trust, Lossiemouth Community Council and Lossiemouth Business Association have provided an update.
"There has been considerable interest and concern from lots of folks in Lossiemouth about what is happening to the old bridge.
"We are pleased to advise the LCDT, LCC and LBA are in an advanced stage of securing some of the wood and will be meeting to discuss the best way to do something meaningful with it."
That could possibly see some pieces of the old bridge auctioned off for charity or form part of a local display.
