Cameron (32), who debuted for the club as a 16-year-old in 2008, joins captain Matthew Cooper in penning a two-year deal.

Manager Allan Hale said he was thrilled to secure both of the club's longest-serving players on longer contracts.

"The important element for us was identifying the key players here who were an important part of our plan and what we want to do with the club and try to get them tied down on new contracts," he said.

"There’s no better way to start than to get your captain and your record-appearance holder."

Cameron has made 485 starts and 53 sub appearances for City, and is in his 17th senior season at Borough Briggs having first joined the club more than 20 years ago as a youth player.

He was awarded a testimonial against Rangers in July, 2022.

With time ticking on his current City contract, speculation had grown that the midfielder might be tempted to move elsewhere, but Hale was quick to seal a deal.

"From speaking to him, his commitment is very much with Elgin City and he has shown that by signing the length of contract that he has.

"He’s brilliant for the club and you can see in training that his technical ability and pass quality shows he is a very intelligent player and we are lucky to have them.

"He is prepared to do what he needs to do to adapt to our system and it’s great news getting him on a longer deal."

Last week Hale brought in full back Lyall Booth from his former club Huntly, and signed forward Dayshonne Golding on loan from Cove Rangers.

He revealed that former Dundee United and Brechin City defender Nathan Cooney has left the club by mutual consent.

He made 12 starts and two sub appearances this season in his second spell for Elgin.
