A LATE goal from debutant Aaron Reid gave Elgin City a 1-0 victory over Forfar Athletic at Station Park to solidify their position in the League Two play-off spots.

The teenage striker was only announced as a City player last night and made a dream start to life with the Black and Whites this afternoon, scoring an 89th minute winner after coming off the bench after half-time.

After a goalless first half, Forfar's Tomas Brindley was dismissed two minutes after the break.

On 56 minutes, City were handed a penalty when Kane Hester was taken down by Forfar goalkeeper Marc McCallum.

McCallum made amends by saving Russell Dingwall's penalty – but was adjudged to have been off his line so a retake was ordered. Dingwall missed again, this time firing wide.

Aaron Reid and fellow new signing Mitchell Taylor were introduced, and the former proved to be the match winner – glancing a Tom Findlay cross in off the post with a minute left.

The three points move Elgin City five points clear of Annan Athletic and Stranraer in third place. Forfar remain second bottom.
