Chartered accountant Stephen Hopes, Lhanbryde-based retired distillery manager Sean Phillips and company director Kenny Stewart, who lives in the coastal village of Cummingston, have all been accepted on City’s board following a recent appeal for fresh blood leading to a club open day at Borough Briggs.

They join current directors Isla Benzie, Cecil Jack, Grant Shewan and Chris Foot.

General manager Mark Cooper said: “The current board not only identified a need to get in new blood in but also tried to attract people with the right skills set that would add value to the club.

“This is an exciting time for the club and puts it in a really good position to improve its fortunes on and off the field.”

Benzie, who has stepped up to the position of interim chairwoman following Graham Tatters’ recent departure, added: “We are absolutely delighted to have attracted people of the calibre of Stephen, Sean and Kenny onto the board and we look forward to working with them in the years ahead.”
