It will be City's eighth match in 24 days since resuming play on March 20 from the suspension of Scotland's lower league season.

The Black and Whites suffered just their second defeat in seven league outings since the restart, when they lost 1-0 at Cowdenbeath on Saturday.

Tonight's hosts Stenny are currently in sixth place, nine points behind Elgin with three fixtures left before the division splits after 18 games.

A win for Gavin Price's side would strengthen their bid for the play-offs.

Rory MacEwan and Tony Dingwall are injury doubts for Elgin.

After tonight's Stenhousemuir match, Elgin host Albion Rovers on Saturday at noon then meet runaway leaders Queen's Park at the Falkirk Stadium a week today in their final pre-split game.

Fixtures will then be drawn up for five post-split match days, with the five clubs in each half playing each other once to determine the final positions - and who plays in the play-offs.

Edinburgh, Stirling and Elgin are the three favourites to reach the League 1 play-offs along with the club which finishes second bottom of League 1.

Queen's Park are well on course for promotion as champions, with Forfar Athletic struggling to avoid the drop from the tier above as they are five points behind second-bottom Dumbarton.
