A welcomed clean sheet earned by an inspired performance saw McHale continuously thwart a visiting Bonnyrigg Rose side as City landed an important 2-0 victory.

WATCH: City manager Barry Smith praises his team.

McHale spoke after the match - watch interview below - and described the thrill of victory to end a bad spell of results for the Borough Briggs men.

Since their last win over Dumbarton in September, City had lost four times on the road including humiliating 6-0 defeats at Peterhead in the league and East of Scotland League side Jeanfield Swifts in the Scottish Cup.

The Elgin keeper admitted that cup thumping in Perth was his lowest day yet as a player for the club.

But he said if his team can show the same battling qualities as they did at the weekend over the remainder of the season, they can continue to rise the table.
