WATCH: New manager Allan Hale promises to be "demanding" of Elgin City players and looks back fondly on his time at Highland League Huntly

Allan Hale will be "forever indebted" to former club Huntly but is relishing his new challenge at Elgin City.

The newly-appointed City manager spoke about his time in the Highland League with the Christie Park club, whose fortunes he improved week-on-week before quitting to take up the Elgin position.

Hale and his assistant Stefan Laird will take charge of Elgin training for the first time on Thursday, and take in their maiden match for the Black and Whites at East Fife on Saturday.

He will rely on information given to him by former City manager and current player Ross Draper when he takes charge for his first game.

After that, Hale said he will gradually implement his own ideas into the squad, and will expect high standards to be met.

"The one thing we will do is be quite demanding," he said. "We demand a lot from our players, but hopefully it's an environment that the players enjoy working in.

"Together we can help keep moving the club forward."

Hale looked back fondly on his time in charge at Huntly and says he will be a fan of the club for life.

"I'm forever indebted to (chairman) Gordon Carter for giving me the opportunity," he said, adding that he enjoyed good relationships with the players and officials at the Strathbogie outfit.

"I leave Huntly as a fan. That speaks volumes for the club."

Hale also spoke about his targets and ambitions for Elgin City.
