So much hard work went into preparing the newly-formed Elgin City women's football team for their first-ever match at Borough Briggs - only for it to be cancelled.

Scheduled opponents Forfar Farmington Development Team couldn't raise a team for this month's SWFL North opener. With Elgin expecting a big crowd of fans, families and sponsors on the day, the disappointment at the late postponement was evident.

All that will be forgotten this weekend when the team finally begins its adventure into the national leagues as the visit Inverurie Locos Women for a League Cup group match on Sunday.

Manager Michael Morrison spoke about the work involved in creating a brand new team and preparing them for action against the best female footballers in the north.

His interview, in the wake of the first game postponement, expressed the disappointment felt by everyone at the club that their big game fell by the wayside.
