Elgin City midfielder Rory MacEwan signs contract extension
MIDFIELDER Rory MacEwan has become the latest long-serving player to sign a new deal with Elgin City.
After Brian Cameron and Matthew Cooper signed new deals on Wednesday, MacEwan has put pen to paper and will remain at Borough Briggs until at least next summer.
The 26-year-old's contract was due to expire this summer, but he has signed an year extension – with an option for a further year to be available in 2025.
Manager Allan Hale was delighted to get MacEwan signed up. He said: "The plan is to get the important players on long-terms deals and Rory is an important part of what we are trying to do.
"He is a good age, he has good experience at this level and he has got the energy and tanacity to play the way we want to play.
"It's really good business for us and a continuation of the good news from earlier this week in getting Brian and Matthew signed up."
MacEwan came through the system with Elgin before joining Stirling University. He has been playing for the Black and Whites since his return in 2019.
Hale admitted he was disappointed not to secure the permanent service of Liam Harvey, who has joined Buckie Thistle after being released by Aberdeen.

He added: "Liam was someone we wanted to keep permanently but he feels he will have better opportunities to play in his natural position at Buckie than he felt he would have with us.
"He's a local lad and talented young player. We thank him for his efforts and wish him well."
