More Elgin City:

Unveiled alongside new boss Allan Hale this week at Borough Briggs - the pair worked together at last club Huntly - he spoke of his desire to be successful at Borough Briggs.

"I've been coaching now for ten years," he said. "We've got our own coaching methods, some of them will be different to what the players are used to.

"With some fine tweaks we hope to get the best out of the group."

Laird spoke about his own career which started as a youngster at Rangers and switched two three years as a full-timer at Blackpool.

He has coached in Aberdeen's youth academy and taken charge of the Dons' women's team, before following Hale to Huntly for his first taste of senior football management.

He is wary of the geographical challenges of recruiting players to Elgin City and the first priority to ensure that the Black and Whites preserve their SPFL status this season - they current sit second bottom of League 2.

"The first thing is to stay in the league we are in and then try to built week-on-week and see where we can go," he said.

"It's not a big jump to the play-offs and that's what we've got to aim for but the priority is to stay in this division."

The management duo thoroughly research their opponents and Laird said he has been watching and studying East Fife content all week ahead of tomorrow's trip to Methil for their opening game in charge.
